Major disruption to the school run in Kingussie was reported this morning.
Drivers found their route to the High School was blocked by works at Station Road.
Diversions were in place but "not very visible" said observers on the High Street.
"There was chaos early on," said photographer Aidan Woods as he watched the queues of buses build up at the Station Road closure signs.
"There are a lot of people very unimpressed by the lack of preparation for the traffic issues.
"It appears there were no expectations of work this week on the road down to the High School."
Another local, David Macleod, told the Strathy: "Other people had to move further up the town just to get their buses to work, there was a fair bit of surprise since nothing had been posted."
The Strathy has asked the Highland Council for clarification on the situation.
