The historic Evans & Barr organ has been brought back to all its former glory by a passionate campaign which has already seen it feature in a series of successful recitals.

Now two of the town's most promising music students are to perform in the latest concert staged at the Parish Church.

A date of Thursday, June 27 has been set for "Music for a Summer Evening".

Organiser Eppy Mackay told the Strathy: "It will feature two upcoming music students from the High School – Diogo Carneiro (voice) and Ellen Ogden (cello).

"Both students are very keen to progress with their studies in music and we are delighted to be giving them a platform to demonstrate their musical skills."

They will be accompanied by their music teacher, Emily Oates who will also play several clarinet pieces.

Performing pieces on both piano and the Evans & Barr on the evening will be church organist John Crombie.

"We're all looking forward to an evening of wonderful music," said Mrs Mackay.

Entry at 7.30 on the night will be free, although donations will be welcome. Refreshments will be served following the concert.
