Kingussie volunteers will do the Turkey trot for their senior citizens
After the major disappointment of Covid-19's ban on their annual Christmas party together, the senior citizens of Kingussie and vicinity are being told that the dinner, at least, will come to them.
OneKingussie's volunteers will be delivering free hot Christmas meals to people in their local community on Sunday, December 20.
The gesture, the Strathy was told, has been made possible with amazing support from Voluntary Action Badenoch and Strathspey backed by funding from the Scottish Government Recovery Fund.
The meals will be prepared by the chef at the Duke of Gordon Hotel and delivered piping hot by the same OneK volunteers who shopped and delivered to nearly 100 shielding and isolating households in and around Kingussie during the Spring lockdown.
OneK is offering the festive feast to anyone who has been isolating this year who may be housebound, or any senior citizens who will miss the usual get together for the town's Christmas meal.
A OneK spokesperson said: "This is a real show of the community pulling together after a really tough year for the whole country and hopefully this will spread a little cheer to those who perhaps can't get out or those who live on their own.
"We ask either that eligible people contact us themselves or that other people contact us on their behalf.
"We would like to thank our volunteers for stepping up once again and VABS and the Duke of Gordon Hotel for their support.'
