Kingussie water supply restored after mains breakage

Scottish Water have confirmed that repairs have been completed to a main at the northern end of Kingussie following yesterday's breakage.

Contractors working on the creation of a new service road struck the pipeline in the morning and cut off a section of consumers in one corner of the Badenoch capital.

A Scottish Water team were quickly on the scene to isolate the damaged section of the main and maintain supplies for as many customers as possible while a repair was arranged.

In the immediate area of the break around 100 homes and businesses were initially without water – and a wider area of the town experienced lower than normal water pressure.

A spokesperson for Scottish Water told the Strathy: “We would like to apologise to customers in Kingussie who experienced disruption to their water supply yesterday.

“Our local team responded to isolate the damaged section of pipe and maintain supplies for customers as far as possible while a repair was arranged. The repair was completed and the town’s water network returned to normal operation before 5pm.

“We would like to thank customers for their patience while our team responded to restore normal service as quickly as possible.”
