It was just after 11.30 that the incident occurred on the A86 between Newtonmore and Kingussie.

Police Scotland confirmed that a red Isuzu and a silver Vauxhall Astra were the only vehicles involved in the incident, which led to the closure of the road for about an hour.

"There were no injuries," said a police spokesperson.

The road, which was closed both ways, was open again by shortly after midday.
