Kingussie’s public toilets have been closed yet again after the latest incident of vandalism.

Highland Council officials have said that the facilities at Ardvonie car park will remain closed for the next month.

They want to see if ‘things settle down’ before deciding on when they reopen.

A local authority spokesman said: “Unfortunately, due to ongoing vandalism we have had to close the Kingussie PC with immediate effect.

“The facility has had a hand dryer damaged beyond repair, toilet roll holder also broken beyond repair and light fittings damaged.

“As a service we are so disappointed with the way this facility has been treated.

“As has occurred at other sites where vandalism is an ongoing issue, we have instructed an immediate closure.

“We will not be reopening these facilities for at least one month to see if things settle down.

“We cannot carry on repairing them until we are satisfied that the daily threat of vandalism is reduced.”

Kingussie has seen regular vandalism bouts in recent years and latterly there have been similar incidents at the public facilities in Grantown and Carrbridge.
