Kingussie lift the first major shinty trophy since the start of the Covid pandemic
Kingussie claimed the first major silverware up for grabs in shinty for nearly two years when they beat Kyles Athletic in the Artemis Macaulay Cup Final.
James Falconer continued his amazing run of goals this season with the opener in the sixth minute and made it a brace in the 75th in the 4-1 victory.
Falconer told BBC Alba at the final whistle that he could not pick his finger on his sensational season: "I could say something random to be honest but I don't even know.
"I have not done anything extra."
He said that he hoped that Kingussie could complete a clean sweep of the trophies this season and it will take a very good team to beat them.
And boss John Gibson thinks there is more in the tank.
Despite the convincing win thanks to further second half goals from Kieran MacPherson (69th) and sub Lee Bain (88th), he thinks that the Red and Blues were not at their best.
He said: "I am delighted and we got there eventually but it was a bit of a lacklustre performance but we got the job done."
Gibson said he confident that they would see the final through even with just the narrow margin at half-time.
"If we can go in at half-time a goal up or level we are delighted because we know we have legs in the team," he said.
Innes MacDonald gave Kyles some late hope with he struck from long distance in the 79th and keeper Rory MacGregor misjudged the ball but the Kings saw out the game comfortably in the end.
