Kingussie High School will reopen to all pupils tomorrow (Monday).

The 412 pupils were sent home at lunch time on Wednesday following the loss of power, heating and telephones.

The fire and rescue service were called to the school after smoke was detected coming from a power box, which burnt out.

A Highland Council spokesman said: "Intensive work has been carried out at the school to reinstate the power supply.

"It is hoped that telephone and internet connections will be reinstated tomorrow."

An emergency school mobile telephone number is 07776 260 249.

A £3.9 million extension to the school is currently under way.
