Kingussie High School headteacher Ian Adamson is biding farewell to pupils for the last time today as he gets set to take on a new role.

He is departing after nearly 12 years at the school to take on the top job at Inverness Royal Academy.

Mr Adamson, who had been depute head, took over from previous Kingussie headteacher Ollie Bray.

He is set to take up his new headteacher’s post at the city school after the Easter holidays which have just got underway for pupils.

A Highland Council spokesperson said: “Gavin Murphy will be the acting head teacher whilst we recruit a new permanent head teacher for Kingussie High School.

“The post has been advertised and recruitment will progress after the Easter break.”

Mr Adamson said at the time he announced his impending departure: “Kingussie is a great school with fantastic pupils, staff, parents, carers and a supportive community.

“I have so many special Kingussie High School memories and I will take these with me to my new school.”
