Kingussie bridge to be out of bounds for all users for five days next month

Ruthven Bridge which crosses the River Spey by Kingussie will be closed to all traffic, cyclists and walkers over several days in May while essential works are carried out.

This bridge forms part of the Speyside Way connecting Ruthven Barracks with Kingussie.

Motorists have already been advised of the disruption but it will affect other users.

Highland Council has said walkers and cyclists will be impacted and should avoid the area between 9am to 3pm on the following days: Wednesday 3 May; Tuesday 9 May; Wednesday 10 May; Monday 15 May and Tuesday 16 May.

A local authority spokeswoman said: "The Highland Council has employed contractors to carry out the carriageway and waterproofing works, with pedestrians, cyclists, and dismounted equestrians permitted to cross while the bridge is closed to vehicles.

"Out with the above noted dates and time, public access across the bridge will be maintained."
