Bitter-sweet week for Loch Insh Outdoor Centre

Loch Insh Outdoor Centre at Kincraig has seen its high and lows this week, celebrating huge victory in world windsurfing but being hit at home by the curse of Covid.

SITTING THINGS OUT: There'll be no stand up paddling or windsurfing this weekend after all on Loch Insh, with precautions being taken very seriously at the centre

With magnificent performances in Switzerland from Islay Watson and Andy Brown – both of whom earned their 'wings' on the Badenoch waters – it was set to be a wonderful week, especially with the weekend's first ever Fresh Fest lined up.

But today the half-expected news was confirmed by the sailing school. Operations at the centre were curtailed a few days ago after a positive Covid-19 test among the staff.

Hopes were high that this weekend's festival would still go ahead, but the announcement came today on social media:

"We are really sorry but due to the on going Covid situation in the Spey Valley, we have to postpone Fresh Fest.

"We know you will be disappointed and we plan to look at alternative dates to run this event.

"If you are keen to be updated on this event, please email office@lochinsh.co.uk, or beach@lochinsh.co.uk.

"We are sorry again, and hope to see you in the future!"

More on this when it comes in.
