A Badenoch village’s thanks

Lest we forget Normandy 80 years ago this day.
Lest we forget Normandy 80 years ago this day.

They will remember.

As D-Day arrives, a Badenoch village flies the flag for the thousands who so selflessly gave their lives 80 years ago.

Kincraig and Vicinity Community Council chose to erect a flagpole by the village’s war memorial and to grace it first with a standard in memory of those who so bravely invaded Normandy eight decades ago to begin the end of Nazi tyranny.

The pole was donated by Loch Insh Outdoor Centre and erected by its director and local community councillor Jonny Freshwater.

Ian Ash, a fellow community council representative, told the Strathy the flagpole was a permanent installation which would fly other flags when appropriate.

They will remember at Grantown too, with a special service today outside the Royal British Legion Scotland Strathspey clubrooms in the Square.
