Pupils and teachers at Kingussie High School had a nice festival surprise just before term ended for the Christmas holidays.

They opened their window blinds to see a Christmas message had been marked on the school field.

The festive greeting was the handywork of janitors Douglas Guy and Helen Beaven.

Mr Guy said: ‘It’s unusual for janitors to actually be writing on school property – we normally spend our time trying to get rid of words written in the wrong place."

Mr Bray joked: ‘I deployed the English department to inspect the message and they have assured me that everything is spelt correctly.

"Mr Guy and Ms Beaven should be applauded for their neat handwriting."

See tomorrow's (Tuesday) Strathy for what magic Santa's elves worked at the school and also a report and photos from the school's Christmas concert.
