It's official - visitors from across globe attend two of the strath's largest gatherings
A community-benefit broadband provider has been able to reveal that visitors from all across the world have attended two of the strath's largest gatherings this past week.
StrathspeyNow laid on free wi-fi at the Gratown Show and Abernethy Highland Games helping to ensure locals and visitors could remain connected.
Operators have said the gigabit-capable broadband network is supporting Strathspey – and the free Wi-Fi provision is just one example of the community benefit.
Richard Watson, of StrathspeyNow, explained: “We were delighted to provide free connectivity for those attending these two historic events and know our network not only supported visitors but also enabled traders to connect where needed.”
Simon Baldwin, also of StrathspeyNow, commented: “Organisers of both events welcomed our support.
"Not only were we able to deliver free Wi-Fi but our platform also allowed us to gather important data that we are sharing with the events to help in their planning for 2024.”
Users registering came from north and central America, Australia and across Europe.
Mr Watson said: “Tourists from Belgium, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the Ukraine were all able to make use of our free service.
"Where they chose to do so, they have opted in to receive ongoing updates from StrathspeyNow, demonstrating how our managed, integrated digital communication is helping to promote and support Strathspey.”
Closer to home, visitors from more than a dozen English counties used the network when in Grantown and Nethy Bridge as well as visitors from the Central Belt and numerous places across the Highlands and Moray as well as Aberdeenshire, Angus and Perthshire.
Mr Baldwin added: “All of our support is enabled by home and business owners across the area signing up to our community-benefit broadband network.
"Their support for our service enables us to deliver support back to communities across Strathspey.”
And more continue to connect to StrathspeyNow.
Mr Watson was at both events and spoke with numerous residents who welcomed the new wireless broadband provision.

He said: “So many properties have very poor connectivity. Where we can, we are connecting those homes and businesses using funding that is available for the hardest to reach premises.
“But others have suffered from a ‘jam tomorrow’ scenario for years regarding their internet provision.
"We are connecting them today, using wireless delivery that is fast, secure, cost-effective and more environmentally-friendly than traditional 'fibre in the ground' solutions.”
