Clarkson's 'Grand Tour' of Badenoch
The mystery is over for fans of the smash-hit Amazon Prime Video-streamed show 'The Grand Tour', which stars former Top Gear pin-ups Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond.
Leaving behind their latest big shoot in Berwick, the team converged on Glentruim after lunch.
Keen-eyed photographer Peter Jolly told the Strathy: "It was quite a sight as they hit the glen, arriving in '70s American cars towing caravans."
It's no secret that "Hamster" Richard Hammond is an inveterate lover of all things Stateside and V8-powered, although turning up today in the wilds to the east of Newtonmore and Dalwhinnie, Messrs Clarkson and May were clearly not aversed to such vehicles themselves.
Despite the wet and the cold, the team all seemed in good heart as they arrived behind their Covid-19 masks and took the air in a field, parking up their gas-guzzling classics and a beautifully – and bovinely – camouflaged caravan.
The Grand Tour new special has kept the TV fans guessing, especially with the pandemic restricting their movements so severely.
So it looks as if they're settling for a British extravanganza despite some earlier comments from the team that they would not be filming anywhere 'local'.
For the Strathy it doesn't get any more local than Badenoch but we remain to be corrected on just what shape the tour is going to take in the end.
One insider is convinced that, when needs must, a 'cheap car challenge' will at least keep the hit show on the road.
