It’s The End but just the start for Cairngorms Community Cinema
The fledgling Cairngorm Community Cinema will be screening its latest movie… and it will be ‘The End’.
Tilda Swinton, George MacKay and Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon star in the film to be shown at the Spey Valley Cinema at the Macdonald Aviemore Resort on Wednesday evening.
Twenty-five years after environmental collapse left the Earth uninhabitable, one family clings to a sense of normalcy while confined to a palatial bunker.
Wealthy ex-ballerina Mother, former oil executive Father, their precocious Son (and a chosen few companions) keep a happy routine.
But when a Girl turns up at their underground doorstep, with her own past and a plain-spoken perspective, the group’s blind optimism begins to unravel.
Organisers of the local cinema club have described ‘The End’ as an ‘interesting piece’.
And thanks to Harry Gow’s, the first 30 people through the door next week will get a raspberry cake slice.
Community cinema spokeswoman Hannah Bailey said: “We are really trying to encourage people to come and support the cinema and prove it is something the community want- so that we can keep it going.”
The community volunteer-run initiative aims to create a space where the community can gather, discover new perspectives and enjoy film.
Tickets cost £5 and are available at the door.
Doors at 6.30pm for a start of 6.40pm.
