An Inverness hospital’s stroke unit remains closed to new admissions and visitors.

Visiting to Ward 2A in Raigmore has been suspended unless under special circumstances and by prior arrangement with the ward.

Any visitors to the ward have to have arranged a time with the ward staff in advance.

A spokesman said today (December 28): "This will remain in place over the New Year and will be revisited at the end of next week (January 5).

"This decision has not been taken lightly but is necessary to minimise the risk to other patients on the ward.

"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this causes but patient safety is our priority."
