Inverness Military Wives Choir have been tuning up this week ahead of their next big performance.

The choir have been rehearsing with one of Scotland’s top Gaelic singers, James Graham, as they prepare to take centre stage at the Highland Military Tattoo at Fort George next month.

They’ve also been joined by Lossiemouth Military Wives Choir for their first foray into singing in Gaelic.

Lochinver-born singer, James, has joined forces with the choirs to perform Gaelic supergroup Runrig’s hit, Cearcall a’ Chuain (The Ocean’s Cycle), at the Tattoo, which has a naval theme this year and will also commemorate the centenary of the Battle of Jutland.

Inverness Military Wives Choir chairwoman, Tracey Walsh, said: "We are delighted to be teaming up with James on this song for the Highland Military Tattoo.

"This will be the first time we have sung a Gaelic song as a choir and to be singing it with someone of James’ calibre, against the stunning backdrop of Fort George, will be a fantastic experience for us all.

"It has been a busy year for us so far with some incredible performances including singing with Lulu at Eden Court, six of our members taking to the stage at Carnegie Hall in New York and opening the main stage at Belladrum Festival a few weeks ago and we are all looking forward to another great experience at Fort George."

Inverness Military Wives Choir Musical Director, Alyn Ross, will conduct the choirs at the tattoo, which is continuing the naval theme with performances from the Band of The Royal Marines Scotland and The Royal Band of the Belgian Navy.

This year’s tattoo, which is supported by EventScotland, a team within VisitScotland’s Events Directorate, runs each evening from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th September, with a matinee performance on Saturday 10th September. Tickets are now on sale from Ticketline, Eden Court and The Highlanders’ Museum at Fort George.

More information is available at www.highlandmilitarytattoo.com and you can follow the Tattoo on Twitter @HMTFortGeorge.

There will be performances running from 8pm to 9.30pm on 9th and 10th September with the performance on 11th September starting at the earlier time of 7.30pm.

A matinee performance will be held at 2.30pm on Saturday 10th September. Gates open at 5pm for the evening performances and at 12.30pm for the matinee.
