Crash happened at 4.50 on A9 but road opened shortly before 8pm

The A9 is fully open again after tonight’s disruption at Aviemore.

Emergency services were called to the Aviemore area after a crash was reported at 4.55pm.

Police Scotland confirmed the A9 had had to be closed both ways south of the village following a three vehicle crash.

Emergency services were in attendance with diversions in place both north and south of the scene for more than two hours.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service despatched a crew from Kingussie to assist at the crash site.

At 7.50pm Traffic Scotland confirmed the road had opened again at Aviemore.

Details are still awaited as to the crash itself.
