Historic Grantown castle could be set for new owners
Historic Castle Grant has been snapped up after going on the market just over a week ago.
The first people to view the castle which has a price tag of more than £1.1 million have had their undisclosed bid accepted.
Castle Grant was put up for sale after being repossessed by HBOS when Craig Whyte, the shamed ex-owner of Rangers football club, failed to keep up with the £7,000 per month repayments for his home.
A spokeswoman for agents Strutt & Parker said: "The buyers were the first people to see the house and placed an offer within a few hours of viewing. This offer has now been accepted."
She said the buyers do not wish to make any statement nor release their names.
The four level building with both east and west wings designed by John Adam is on the outskirts of Grantown.
There are mature parkland gardens, a landscaped loch and open views to the hills of Cromdale as well as about 35 acres of private land.
Mr Kevin Maley, who is basd with Strutt & Parker in Inverness, said: “This has been a very quick sale for a property of this size but it is a fantastic place in a great setting at a very good price indeed.”
