@HighlandWPark’s Walker set for Rugby World Cup appearance?
Scotland are currently sitting pretty on top of their Rugby World Cup group, but it’s good to know that the Highland Wildlife Park has a replacement roaring to go should injuries start to bite.
Last month the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) appointed Dr Cameron McPhail and his Kartoon Faktory as its cartoonists in residence.
Part of a 15-strong RZSS residency programme, the collaborations with a number of experts in their field enables the organisation to engage with many different audiences to communicate about its conservation work.
Residents include a sculptor, beekeeper, environmental scientist, storyteller, silversmith, wildlife artist, nature photographer, palaeontologist, and adventurer/explorer and an organic chef.
Dr McPhail is a former banker turned writer and cartoonist.
After stints in academia and enterprise, he joined the Royal Bank of Scotland and rose to chief executive of wealth management before leaving to pursue a career in writing and cartooning.
He and his talented team at the Kartoon Faktory (based in Jersey) create unique cartoons and memorabilia based on political and social satire.
