A security guard with G4S stole nearly £4,000 as she travelled around the Highlands stocking up ATMs in banks and at Tesco stores with banknotes, Inverness Sheriff Court has heard.

Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood was told when discrepancies came to light in 2013 CCTV cameras were set up in vans and checked.

Depute fiscal Kelly Mitchell said Angela Murison featured on all occasions money had gone missing.

"On 3rd June 2013 on CCTV footage she was seen removing money from one of the cassettes," said the fiscal.

Ms Kelly said Murison, (59), worked on a dispensing van stocking ATMS at banks and Tescos with cash.

Murison of West Heather Gardens, Inverness, admitted stealing the cash between July 26, 2012 and June 3, 2013.

Solicitor Duncan Henderson said Murison had no previous convictions and had lost her job.

"She was not able to provide any explanation although work colleagues mentioned her father had died and that had a negative effect on her," he said.

The court heard £1,849 had been deducted from her salary and Mr Henderson said the balance would be paid within two weeks.

Sheriff Fleetwood deferred sentence yesterday (Tuesday) until January 26 to enable Murison to repay the outstanding balance.
