Highland river body identified

Following a police appeal yesterday (Sunday, December 8) regarding the recovery of a body from the River Nairn, the identity of the deceased has been confirmed.

The woman has now been identified at a 64 year-old woman from Nairn and her relatives have been informed of the death.

"A post mortem will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death," said a police spokesperson today. "At this time the death is being treated as unexplained although there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

"Members of the public are thanked for their response to our appeal."
