BEAR Scotland has been preparing its winter fleet this evening ahead of forthcoming snowfall expected to start early tomorrow morning.

Winter vehicles will then stay on route to deal with snow where it falls.

Up to 90 winter vehicles including five fast tractors designed to plough snow or assist vehicles struggling to gain traction will then work around the clock.

Weather forecasts indicate frequent heavy snow showers across the North East and North West of Scotland starting from early morning tomorrow and predicted to continue until Thursday evening and likely beyond to the weekend.

Mr Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Operating Company Representative, said: “At the moment a Yellow Met Office ‘be aware’ weather warning has been issued across Scotland from 8am Wednesday morning until midnight on Thursday.

“We urge road users to drive to the conditions as this further period of wintery weather sets in.

"It is essential to check for up to date travel information before setting out on a journey and ensure you and your vehicle are well prepared for winter conditions.

"As the snow will be showery, the conditions may be favourable at the start of your journey however are likely to change so tuning into radio updates or social media is important."
