Highland MP Danny Alexander wants work to start on the Dalcross railway station for Inverness Airport

Highland MP Danny Alexander has called on the Scottish Government to support investment by building the long awaited railway station for Inverness Airport, Dalcross.

Mr Alexander says a rail link would be a welcome addition to the list of projects already underway.

Construction has started on a state-of-the-art search and rescue helicopter base and investment for Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd’s £2.5 million runway resurfacing and new taxiways is also on the way.

Mr Alexander said: "As an increasingly important transport hub for the Highlands, Inverness Airport is also an investment hub.

"The railway station at Dalcross to serve the airport is an important step towards further growth in the Highland economy.

"The Highlands has one of the fastest growing economies in the UK. Protecting and improving our links to other parts of the country is absolutely vital."
