A man who threatened to shoot his neighbours has been remanded in custody for reports.

David Robertson, (49), described in court papers as a prisoner in Inverness appeared from custody at the city's Sheriff Court on Tuesday and admitted between March 1 and April 15, 2014 at Knocknagael behaving in a threatening manner likely to cause fear and alarm by threatening to shoot two neighbours.

Shahid Latif, solicitor advocate, said Robertson had been in custody since April 24 and had spent the equivalent of seven months on remand.

He asked Sheriff David Sutherland to release him on bail.

"He has no previous sentences of detention and his last conviction was in 2009," said Mr Latif.

But Sheriff Sutherland said he would be remanded for criminal justice social work reports until sentencing on August 26.
