Highland Council starting major path works in residential area of Aviemore

Highland Council is warning of possible disruption whilst path improvement works are carried out at the north end of Aviemore.

They are taking place at the junction of Burnside Road and Burnside Place and on the footpath leading from Burnside Road to the pedestrian tunnel below the steam railway line.

The work started today and includes surface repairs, footpath widening, new kerbs and tactile paving to improve access.

The first phase will last for three weeks and then the project will resume on January 6, next year, for a further fortnight.

A Highland Council spokesperson said: “Torvean Civil Engineering Ltd is the appointed contractor and will manage pedestrians and vehicle access and keep any disruption associated with the works to a minimum.”
