All flags at Highland Council sites have been lowered to half-mast as a mark of respect to the victims of the Glasgow helicopter tragedy.

Nine people died when a Police Scotland Helicopter crashed into the Clutha Vaults pub in the city centre on Friday night.

The three crew died in the incident, along with six people inside the pub.

The national force said it cannot rule out finding more bodies.

Flags were lowered in the Highlands by the council.

The region’s local authority’s leader Drew Hendry has written to his counterpart at Glasgow City Council, Gordon Matheson, to express the "profound sympathies" of the council and Highland people at the loss of life in the crash on Stockwell Street.

A large crane removed the stricken helicopter from the pub’s roof in a delicate operation today, as an investigation into the cause of the collision is carried out.
