Highland Council looking to recruit traffic wardens for Badenoch and Strathspey
Badenoch and Strathspey could soon have its street parking policed once again.
The area has been without dedicated traffic wardens for many years - with just the very occasional visit from Inverness-based officers during that time.
But now Highland Council is looking to recruit three new parking enforcement offices with one or more of the positions based in Badenoch and Strathspey but with a council wide remit.
The council stated in the appeal for applicants: "We are recruiting and looking for three people to join a friendly and diverse team supporting Highland communities and making a difference.
"Based in #Inverness or #Badenoch and Strathspey and working council wide as a parking enforcement officer."
The council has said full training will be given.
The full-time posts pay £23,011 to £25,493 per year and are for 37 hours per week.
The advert says that the duties include 'overseeing traffic management as required by enforcing traffic regulation orders and keeping designated parking, waiting and loading areas clear for specific users.
It states that another part of the job is to ensure that the council’s off- street and on-street car parking facilities are operated in a safe and efficient manner.
The lack of traffic wardens has been an issue particular in Grantown with The Square often tricky to negotiate in the vicinity of the Co-op.
