Highland Council examines its results
Highland Council has revealed some of the main trends from this year’s National and Highers exams across the region after pupils received their results by text, e-mail or post on Tuesday (August 9).
It is the first year that candidates were offered the full range of national qualifications from National 2 right through to Advanced Higher as part of the Curriculum for Excellence.
In S4, the percentage of pupils who achieved five plus qualifications at National 5 has increased by almost 2% from last year. The percentage of pupils who achieved five qualifications at National 4 has decreased by 1%.
In S5, the percentage of candidates achieving 3+ Highers has continued to improve for the seventh year in a row. It now stands at 32.6%.
A total of 342 pupils achieved five Higher qualifications at grades A-C while 84 pupils achieved five Highers qualifications at grade A - an increase of eight from last year.
In S6, 501 pupils achieved the new Advanced Higher qualification.
Councillor Drew Millar, chairman of education, children and adult services, said: “I would like to thank all the young people being recognised for their hard work and achievements. I would also like to recognise and pay tribute to the teachers, parents and carers for their support and commitment.”
