Heavy traffic in Badenoch – but happy!





Fans of historic motors – especially the big stuff – enjoyed a happy day on Saturday as some classics passed through Strathspey and Badenoch.

The Highland Historic Commercial Vehicle Road Run ended up as a 76-strong convoy featuring a huge variety of huge vehicles.

The run started from Dingwall Auction Mart and headed along a circuitous route down to the strath where it climaxed at the Highlander Hotel, Newtonmore, with a fair few looking down to the Newtonmore Grill car park, to the delight of local fans.

The organisers had hoped that the weather would be as kind as it had been last year and their wishes came true.

A spokesperson for the annual Highland Historic Commercial Vehicle Road Run told the Strathy it had been a great event and quite apart from giving vintage vehicle fans a big thrill it had also raised no less than £1200 for Blood Bikes Scotland, who provide a free of charge transport service to the Scottish NHS run by volunteers in their own time.

The team delivers small urgent items that are required to be moved from one site to another or to a patient’s home in the community. Supporting teams in both primary and secondary care including GPs, District Nurses, Care Homes, and Community Hospitals.

The service is provided in all weathers, always with a smile and in a professional, friendly, trusting manner.

All in all, a big success for this year's big parade.
