Hat’s off to Grantown knitter Muriel

A Grantown care home resident has her own novel way of dealing with lockdown boredom – keep calm and carry yarn!

Muriel MacLennan, a resident at Lynemore Care Home, is using her time during the Covid-19 lockdown to knit hats, bootees, mittens and cannula sleeves for newborn babies in the Special Care Baby Unit at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

A keen knitter, Muriel was in need of a new project and jumped at the chance to help out the unit when Lynemore activities coordinator Roslyn Munro – who has friends working in the unit – suggested the idea.

Ros said: “Muriel loves to knit and was over the moon when I suggested knitting some clothes for the new arrivals at the Special Care Baby Unit. We all think she’s done a wonderful job and the baby clothes look lovely.”

The new outfits will be dispatched to Raigmore Hospital later this week.
