Issued at 7.50 this morning, the report adds that beyond that particular route there are, at the south end of the Badenoch and Strathspey are, no other known issues.

"In the north end of the area there is a dusting of snow on lower routes.

"High level and exposed routes are still being assessed for possible road closures due to snow drifting in strong winds."

On the neighbouring Inverness area roads the council's report issued at 9.50 this morning was still awaiting updates on road conditions from locl operatives: "The news release on Highland Council’s website will be updated once this is available."

Maps of the gritting routes by priority and policy are available online at www.highland.gov.uk/gritting

The information provided by the roads staff aims to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time.

"It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling," a spokesperson said.

The UK Met Office currently has a yellow weather warning in place for snow and ice for large parts of Highland, particularly the north-east region.
