A 13 year old Grantown schoolboy has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being knocked off his bike in an accident with a pick-up truck in the town centre.

The incident occurred at around 8.20am between Grant Road and Seafield Road.

Police said the accident involved the cyclist and a Mitsubishi L200 pick-up truck. The area has been closed off through-out the morning for accident investigations.

A force spokesman said: "The 13-year-old male cyclist has been taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

"His injuries are serious but not believed to life-threatening."

Police are continuing to carry out investigations. Anyone who witnessed the collision should call 101, quoting incident 607 of May 1.
