Following a £2.4 million programme of refurbishment funded, managed and delivered by The Highland Council, the "new" Craig Maclean Leisure Centre has opened to the public.

The refurbishments saw the complete renovation of the swimming pool and changing area as well as updates to the fitness suite.

These updates ensure that Grantown has a state of the art leisure facility which can be enjoyed by all in the community.

Until the end of the month High Life Highland are offering discounted annual memberships to the facility which can be purchased online or at the leisure centre, as well as accessing the new facilities at Craig Maclean, members will be able to access a wide range of High Life Highland centres across the region.

"Individuals can join for only £200 for a year," said a Highlife Highland spokesman, "with families paying the reduced rate of £300.

"The official opening of the facility will be on the August 26 and everyone is invited to attend a fun morning of activities including taster classes from a wide range of instructors including Craig Maclean himself, family fun activities and more!"

Highland Council convenor Bill Lobban told the Strathy: "The refurbishment of the Craig MacLean Leisure Centre, in partnership with High Life Highland, is yet another example of Highland Council’s commitment to Grantown.

"This along with the ‘new’ Library and Service Centre it really proves that the town is on the up."
