Grantown flowers again
They’ve only blooming done it again at Grantown!
Maria Norman and her staff at The Flower Box triumped on Tuesday night at the Scottish Independent Retail Awards, emerging once again as top florist in the northern section.
"We’re very proud to keep the badge!" said Maria.
Two other strath businesses had also made the shortlist in their own spheres: Lynda Whitty’s Laggan Pottery Shop in the coffee shop category and Mike’s Bikes of Aviemore in the cycle retailer of the year class.
Said Lynda Whitty: "As a former craftsperson I adapted my creative skills, concentrating on home baking, excellent coffee and growing my retail outlet.
"I am thrilled to have been shortlisted in recognition of the hard work invested by myself and wonderful staff both past and present."
More than 300 guests were welcomed to Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza hotel in a celebration of the Scottish retail industry.
Irfan Younis, chief executive of organisers Creative Oceanic, said: "These awards are a celebration of local businesses.
"Winners are a true reflection of quality and customer service as they are chosen by members of the general public."
The black tie event was hosted by award winning radio presenter Gina McKie, who highlighted the value of independent retailers to the communities they operate within.
