Grantown Cinema projects a good future
The Grantown Community Cinema’s two test screenings created such great feedback that the team have decided that it’s a go on making the project a more permanent fixture.
A project spokesperson said: "The team have been overwhelmed with the support shown and whilst there were some comments that need looking at to see how things can be improved, over 95 per cent of the feedback was a resounding yes from kids and adults alike."
"Over the next couple of months the team are going to work hard trying to make the room a better space at the YMCA and are looking into better equipment and how generally they can make the experience a better one.
"As usual there are the funding constraints to contend with, a sound system and cinema screen don’t come cheaply, but a lick of paint and some sound proofing is well within their capabilities.
" On that note they are actively seeking volunteers who would like to wield a paint brush, or could perhaps provide more practical support such as electrical work.
"If you don’t have the time perhaps you have things lying around that could be utilised?
"Old duvets that they are going to re-purpose as sound muffling boards, carpet tiles that are sat in the garage not being used or old cushions that can make the plastic chairs a bit more comfortable for long performances."
Regarding performances, the group’s plan is to provide a complete mixture that should tick everyone’s boxes now and again from kids films to adults only screenings, new releases, not quite so new and classics.
