Grantown's latest centenarian celebrates her big day





Jessie Jack has become the Strathspey capital's latest centenarian.

Born Nettie Stephen, she came into the world at Altcharn, Parish of Abernethy on July 27, 1921 to the late Elsie and Gordon Stephen and her brother John was born two years later.

Jessie attended Brig of Brown school from age 7 to 11 and graduated to Grantown Grammar, where she met her late husband Hamish Jack.

Both the Stephen and Jack families have close connections in business and on a personal basis throughout the Nethy Bridge area.

Nettie and Hamish were married in Gordon Hall Hotel in April 1945, they started married life in Ivydene, South Street, Grantown.

Gordon, Hamish, Lindsay, Anne and the late Ross were all born in Grantown.

The family moved to Dingwall in 1957, but returned to Grantown in 1968.

Nettie was widowed in 1989 and continued to live in Rhuarden before moving to Boat of Garten in 2008, where she still lives an independent life with Hamish.

Hamish and Nettie have enjoyed their farming interests and their holiday home enterprises and customers for the past 25 years

Nettie celebrated her 100th birthday at the Grant Arms Hotel with family and friends
