DOO IN DAMAGE: How someone left the loo on Friday

A plea for more patience and better manners from customers has gone out from an Aviemore inn whose successful charity night was ‘tainted’ by the way some - visitors and locals alike - treated its staff.

The Skiing Doo’s music night on Friday raised well over £1000 for a Highland life-saving helpline, with 20 different musicians turning out to entertain the customers, but the management posted: “Unfortunately the weekend was tainted for us as staff by the way people spoke to us.”

Manager Katie Boo O'Flynn thanked all who had turned up to support the night in aid of Mikeysline and donated so generously.

She told the Strathy: “It was a great turn out and we raised £1257.”

But while the staff tried their hardest to get everyone served as fast as they could they received complaints. Customers were reminded that the staff members only had so many hands.

“We are not octopuses!”

In a post on Facebook from ‘The Doo Crew’ explained: “We want to give people the best experience in the pub, but if you are rude to us it makes us not want to give you that experience that ruins it for everyone.

“We did apologise that drinks were in plastic, but this was due to high demand for drinks and safety reasons.

“We kindly ask that if you do come in for a drink you keep in mind we too are human and are trying our hardest.

“We love the banter as much as the next, but when it’s rude there is no need for it. You wouldn't speak to other professions that way.”

The rudeness which most offended the staff, though, was the state that a rest room was left in.

“If you don't like the way we decorate please come talk to us - not rip the toilet roll dispenser off the wall.”

Many restaurants and pubs in the area have noted that ever since Covid there has been a perceptible change in customer patience and behaviour.

The Doo Crew reminded its social media followers that ‘It’s nice to be nice’.
