Get steaming in the Cairngorms to help charity

The Strathspey Railway steamin' special in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care will soon be leaving the platform.

The service run in conjuction with the charity, the Cairngorm Hotel in Aviemore and the railway company raised a total of £1,586 last year.

A charity spokeswoman said: "This special offers the perfect chance for local residents and visitors to the Cairngorms National Park to support a fantastic cause and enjoy a soup and sandwich lunch while travelling along the historic line between Aviemore, Boat of Garten and Broomhill."

Deborah Quinn, The Strathspey Railway’s Marketing Officer, said: “The event raises funds for a truly invaluable cause and supports those that are experiencing very difficult times.

"The Strathspey Railway is delighted to continue working with the Cairngorms Hotel and Marie Curie with this annual special and it offers the perfect opportunity for local communities to support this great cause."

Local residents and visitors can get involved by joining Strathspey Railway’s Marie Curie Steamin’ Lunch Special on October 9 on the 12 noon service departing Aviemore station.

Tickets must be purchased in advance, on Strathspey Railway’s website: www.strathspeyrailway.co.uk

All tickets purchased for this special include return journey rail travel, soup, sandwiches, tea and coffee served on board.

There will also be a raffle held on the day with some fantastic prizes up for grabs.
