The Gaelic group in Newtonmore for parents, carers and toddlers has just been relaunched after the Covid pandemic.

A Gaelic toddler group has met again in Newtonmore for the first time since the start of the Covid pandemic.

Parents of babies and toddlers joined up last week to enjoy some Gaelic songs and stories at the Newtonmore Village Hall.

Councillor Calum Munro, chair of Highland Council’s Gaelic Committee, said: “The group is supported by the Highland Council Gaelic Team and Bòrd na Gàidhlig.

"I am delighted that support is being provided to encourage Gaelic language development among parents and children.”

The Gaelic toddler group disbanded when the Covid pandemic struck and the first meeting up of the new group has just taken place.

Local mum and playleader Shona Campbell, who went through Gaelic Medium Education herself, said: “I was delighted at the turnout for the Gaelic group and look forward to meeting up with the local parents and enjoying lots of Gaelic activities together with our wee ones.”
