A fundraiser is cycling from one famous osprey spot to another nearly 600 miles away in order to raise money for a popular attraction in Strathspey.

Osprey supporter Brian Anderson headed off yesterday (Monday) on his bike from the Loch Garten Osprey Centre by Boat of Garten to Rutland Water in Leicestershire to raise money.

He had already raised £1,000 for the Loch Garten centre before heading off and hopes to rake in more before his eight day cycle is completed.

Mr Anderson is expecting to complete the 570 mile journey in six days’ time averaging more than 80 miles per day.

He said: "I am a keen cyclist and have raised money in the past for the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland and BoBath.

"I decided that the Loch Garten Centre should be my target this time after visiting and becoming part of the Loch Garten’s on-line community.

"I can see how much pleasure the Ospreys bring to so many people and I would just like to help the work at the Centre continue."

Mr Richard Thaxton, Loch Garten site manager, said: "It is amazing that Brian has already raised more than £1,000. We are delighted, and rather humbled that Brian has chosen the centre for his latest charitable fund-raising initiative."
