Funding opportunity for strath transport schemes

New strath community transport schemes may have an opportunity to apply for funding as the grant process for such initiatives in the Highlands goes up for renewal.

Currently, 22 third-sector organisations are funded through Highland Council with a total of £416,561 used to support community transport schemes, but their grants expire on March 31, 2016.

The local authority’s community services committee is set to review the policy when it meets in November.

If renewed, existing grant recipients would need to apply and submissions by new applicants would be encouraged. The fresh call for grants would seek to support projects aiming to deliver practical transport solutions in their communities from April 1.

The applications process would be launched on November 6 with the prospective closing date for applications of December 18.

Decisions on awards would be made at the committee’s February meeting.
