Funding for Citizens Advice Bureau for Badenoch and Strathspey to improve equality
Inverness, Badenoch and Strathspey Citizens Advice Bureau has benefited from £78,465 in funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.
It is one of 14 community groups across the Highlands sharing a £468,321 cash boost from the fund.
Alasdair Christie, general manager at the bureau, said it can now work on helping improve equality and advice through a focussed scheme thanks to the support.
“The Highland Equality Action Project will help clients to experience better equality related outcomes, tackle discrimination and provide improved access and routes to remedy and justice,” he said.
“The bureau has noted that over the last two years the number of people seeking its help with equality or related employment rights issues has increased by nearly 200 per cent.
"The pandemic has hit workers who have a disability, those with caring responsibilities and low income families, including single parents and young people, the hardest.”
