Firefighters have again been scrambled to Dava after another wildfire in the area.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it despatched one appliance from Grantown-on-Spey after reports of another wildfire which was reported at around 3.02pm.

There was no immediate word at the time of writing as to the size or intensity of the fire, or if further appliances might be required.

But it is the latest in a number of blazes to have taken hold in the Dava area in the days since a massive wildfire hit late last month, and comes amid an extreme wildfire warning in the Highlands and Moray that is expected to remain active until July 14.

That initial Dava blaze, which covered an area of several miles, sparked a massive firefighting response using crews from across the region, helicopter dowsers and volunteer estate workers.

It also closed several roads - including the A939, A940 and B9007 - and took four days to extinguish.

However, there have been flare ups since then, with another incident in the Dava area on Wednesday again closing the A940 and requiring four fire engine crews to extinguish.

Two pumps from Grantown-on-Spey, one from Forres and another from Nairn were initially deployed to the scene of that later fire before later being scaled back to one.
