Fire service called to Kingussie High School after report of small fire

Fire crews are currently attending at Kingussie High School dealing with what is believed to be a small fire.

The alarm went up at 11.25am, a spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed to the Strathy.

“We have despatched appliances from Kingussie and Aviemore stations. There is no more information available yet.”

It is understood that the incident was in the boiler room but this is yet to be confirmed. Pupils have been evacuated from the building as a safety precaution.

A spokeswoman for the school said that everyone was safe and well.

A fire service spokeswoman later updated the Strathy: “We responded to a false alarm at 11.25am today (Friday) on Ruthven Road, Kingussie.

“Two fire appliances were mobilised, and crews ensured the area was safe before leaving the scene.”

Police Scotland and Highland Council have been contacted for details.
