Famous Jesus Saves Stone changed in support of NHS
The landmark Jesus Saves Stone by the A939 at Dava has been converted to praise the NHS and its workers for their heroic efforts to battle coronavirus.
The boulder next to the Grantown-Nairn road usually has the message Jesus Saves written on a white backdrop but now declares 'Jesus loves NHS'.
It has been targeted numerous times in the past by vandals with light hearted daubs but sometimes more sinister messages including occult graffiti.
Each time the vandalism is whitewashed and the message Jesus Saves reappears.
The last reported incident was in Spring 2018 when the stone was changed to 'Dave Saves'.
Grantown Baptist Church deacon Bob Fishwick was a custodian of the stone for many decades.
But he passed away at the grand old age of 105 in 2016, however, the stone is still being looked after but the guardians remain a closely guarded secret.
The exact origins of the stone being used for Christ's word is unclear.
One theory is that the stone was first painted by Evangelical preachers staying in the Grantown area during World War II.
