Exam pupils shine at Kingussie High School

Kingussie head Ollie Bray has said that he is delighted that senior pupils' efforts have paid off with their exam results.

It is the first year that candidates were offered the full range of national qualifications from National 2 through to Advanced Higher as part of the Curriculum for Excellence.

Mr Bray said: "We are absolutely delighted with the results. Our pupils who sat exams this year have a lot to be proud of.

"Overall, attainment has risen again this year to create a three-year positive trend. And we are confident that this trend will continue in future years.

"All of the pupils at Kingussie should be very proud of what they have achieved."

Some of the school’s exam highlights for S4 and S5 pupils were as follows:

S4

Victoria Christie - Six National 5s at Grade A (English, Maths, Biology, Graphic Communication, Modern Studies and Physics).

Alexandra Munro - Six National 5s at Grade A (English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Graphic Communication).

Cerian Rimmer - Six National 5s at Grade A (English, Maths, Biology, French, Modern Studies and Physics).

Tyrawa Tait-Davis - Six National 5s at Grade A (English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, History and Physics).

Islay Watson - Six National 5s at Grade A (English, Maths, Art & Design, Biology, Chemistry and Physical Education).

S5

Sam Appleby - Five Highers at Grade A (English, Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Physical Education).

Daniel Donald - Five Highers at Grade A (English, Maths, Chemistry, Human Biology and Physics).

Beth Mickel - Five Highers at Grade A (English, Maths, Chemistry, Human Biology and Physics).

Hannah Robertson - Five Highers at Grade A (English, Maths, Art & Design, Drama, French and History) and one National 5 at Grade A (Psychology)

Caitlin Holmes - Four Highers at Grade A (English, Maths, Human Biology and Physics) and one Advanced Higher at Grade A (Music).

Paulina Palugova - Six Highers at Grade A (English, Maths, Chemistry, French, Human Biology and Physics).

Monique Raranga - Six Highers at Grade A (English, Maths, Art & Design, Graphic Communication, Human Biology and Physics).

Mr Bray added: "A special mention should go to outgoing S6 Ellie Tait, who achieved two Grade A passes at Advanced Higher as well as an additional two Grade A passes at Higher Level. She goes on to study veterinary Medicine at the University of Bristol."
