Badenoch and Strathspey have eight candidates to choose from
The Returning Officer has published the Notice of Poll for the contest of 71 seats across 20 multi-member wards of The Highland Council.
One further ward of 3 members is confirmed as uncontested – at Caol and Mallaig.
Of the 142 candidates confirmed, the breakdown is as follows:
Independent – 40
Other - 12
Scottish Conservative and Unionist - 21
Scottish Green Party - 11
Scottish Labour Party -14
Scottish Liberal Democrats - 21
Scottish National Party (SNP) - 23
The poll will take place between the hours of 7am and 10pm on Thursday, May 5.
Anyone wishing to vote must be registered by midnight on Monday 18 April 2022.You can register online at www.gov.uk/registertovote
The results of the contested election will be announced on Friday, May 6 and published on the council’s website www.highland.gov.uk (external link).
The electronic counting of the votes will be broadcast live via the Council’s twitter feed #SLG22Result
