An educational trip at a strath loch is being hosted by Highland Council’s ranger service.

Loch Vaa – between Aviemore and Carrbridge – is a spring-fed loch which is home to many amazing creatures such as dragonfly nymphs and fish.

And newts, frogs and toads can be found in the nearby smaller ponds.

On Wednesday, July 8, between 2pm and 4pm, there will be a chance to join the rangers to peek into the murky depths of the loch and nearby ponds to see what can be spotted.

What will you find lurking about in the water and mud?

Ranger Saranne Bish from said: "Everyone enjoys guddling about in water. Come along and see for yourself what fabulous creepy crawlies choose to live in and on the water within this amazing natural setting.

"It’s going to be so much fun for all the family."

The cost of the event is £4 for adults/£3 concession or £11 for a family ticket.

Those attending should bring wellies and waterproofs and park in the Laggantygown Cemetery car park (Grid ref: NH 910 174).
